According to emerging reports, veteran all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja's place is not guaranteed in India's squad for the upcoming ODI assignments. After a challenging tour of Australia, India are gearing up for the white-ball home series against England, which will be their final dress rehearsal for the all-important Champions Trophy.

While there is much debate and discussion around Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli's dwindling Test form, it has been reported that prominent all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja faces ODI snub threat as the Men in Blue prepare for a turnaround in the England series.

Jadeja Doubtful For Champions Trophy As Axar Impresses BCCI Selectors

According to a report by the Times Of India (TOI), the BCCI selection panel is unimpressed with Ravindra Jadeja's recent performances. While he continues to be a valuable asset with the ball, a sharp decline in his hitting ability has raised question marks over his place as India's number seven batter.

"Gambhir has been very assertive about creating core teams according to formats. As of now, he hasn't quite tinkered with the longer formats but has a clear vision for creating a strong base for the ODI World Cup. He is keen on giving exposure to a few more identified players. It's all about when the selectors decide the transition needs to kick in. They will discuss if they want to go with a safe option in Jadeja or move on right now," a BCCI source was quoted as saying by TOI.

"Even in Test cricket, he has struggled to get going, though his bowling has been steady. There is an urge to move on from him, especially in the ODI format. It will be a tough call in the coming," he added.

On the other hand, Jadeja's primary competitor Axar Patel has been brilliant with the bat in limited opportunities. The explosive southpaw can provide India with fitting finishes apart from bamboozling the opponents with his guile and accuracy in the middle overs. So, if Jadeja is ignored for the upcoming ODI tournaments, Axar and Washington Sundar will likely be picked as the spin-bowling all-rounders in the Champions Trophy squad.
