After a gap of 706 days, India’s premier domestic tournament, Ranji Trophy finally got underway on Thursday.
From Yash Dhull smashing a hundred on Ranji debut to Sarfaraz Khan continuing his stellar form and Ishan Porel taking wickets for fun, we witnessed several memorable moments on the opening day.

Yash Dhull revels on Ranji debut
2022 continues to be a dream year for young Yash Dhull as he smashed a brilliant hundred on his First-Class debut. The U-19 World Cup-winning skipper, who smashed a match-winning ton in the semi-final against Australia, stamped his authority at the FC level in his very first outing (against Tamil Nadu), scoring a pristine 150-ball 113, an innings that included as many as 18 fours.
It could have been a heartbreak for Dhull had he been dismissed on 97 if M Mohammed didn’t overstep.
Dhull brought up his ton in just 133 deliveries, joining the likes of Vijay Zol, Prithvi Shaw and Priyam Garg as Indian U-19 skippers to score a hundred on FC debut.
He was eventually dismissed by Mohammed on 113 as Delhi finished the day at 7/291.

Kishan Singha claims hat-trick against Arunachal Pradesh
Left-arm orthodox Kishan Singha had a memorable outing on the opening day of Ranji Trophy as he claimed a hat-trick.
Singha dismissed Akhilesh Sayani, Suraj Tayam, and Rajesh Bishnoi Jr to end up with staggering figures of 11-9-11-4 as Manipur knocked over AP for just 119.
In reply, Manipur finished at 1/95 in 33 overs, with openers Bonny Chingangbam (35 off 63 deliveries) and Al Bashid Muhammed (41* off 96 deliveries) putting up a 73-run-stand.

Sarfaraz Khan & Ajinkya Rahane's hundreds light up Ranji Trophy on Day 01
Blistering middle-order batsman Sarfaraz Khan and veteran Indian Test batsman Ajinkya Rahane smashed respective tons against defending champs Saurashtra to put Mumbai in the ascendancy on Day 1.
Mumbai was reeling at 3/43 when Rahane and Khan came together and for the next four hours, the duo proceeded to smash the Saurashtra attack to all corners.
Sarfaraz Khan (121* off 219 balls) continued his splendid Ranji form with yet another ton. In his last 10 Ranji innings, Khan has racked up 1049 runs @ 174.8 with four tons.
Rahane, on the other hand, remained unbeaten on a 250-ball 108*. The duo added 219 runs for the 4th wicket and will look to add on it when play resumes on Day 2.

Ishan Porel & Mukesh Kumar put Bengal in the driver's seat against Baroda
A four-wicket haul from Ishan Porel (4/40 in 14 overs) and a three-for from Mukesh Kumar (3/33 in 16.2 overs) followed by two wickets from Akash Deep helped Bengal bowl Baroda out for an underwhelming score of 181 in just 54.2 overs.
Baroda’s wicket-keeper batsman, Mitesh Patel top-scored with a patient 104-ball 66.
In response, Bengal lost their skipper Abhimanyu Easwaran for a 17-ball 4, finishing the day at 1/24 in 13 overs.

Arzan Nagwaswallah & Shubham Shyamsunder Sharma headline Gujarat v MP encounter on Day 1
Left-arm pacer Arzan Nagwaswalla spearheaded Gujarat's attack on the opening day as he toppled the opening duo of Rameez Khan and Ajay Rohera before claiming skipper Aditya Shrivastava to finish with figures of 3/50 in 20 overs.
He was ably backed up by Roosh Kalaria and Chintan Gaja, who claimed two wickets apiece.
For MP, Shubham Sharma missed out on a well-deserved hundred with Gaja dismissing him on a 206-ball 92. Rajat Patidar was the second-highest scorer (54) as their side finished at 7/237 at Stumps.

Akshdeep Nath leads UP's revival against Vidarbha
A fantastic 205-ball 91 from Akshdeep Nath and half-centuries from Rinku Singh (65 off 99 deliveries) and keeper Dhruv Jurel (52* off 121 deliveries) helped UP recover from a precarious position of 4/57 to end the day at 7/268.
The duo of Aditya Sarwate (2/76) and Aditya Thakare (2/42) rocked UP's top-order before Nath and Rinku dug deep with a 112-run partnership. Nath was unfortunate to not score a hundred as he was run out by Wakhare for 91.

Whirlwind Century from Manish Pandey & Krishnamurty Siddharth bully Railways on Day 1
Skipper Manish Pandey smashed a whirlwind 156 off just 121 deliveries with the help of 12 fours and 10 sixes to stamp his authority on the first day of the tournament.
He was well supported by K Siddharth, who scored an unbeaten 221-ball 140, to end the day proceedings at 5/392 in 90 overs.
The duo accumulated 274 runs for the 4th wicket after Karnataka had been reduced to 3/110. Amid the carnage, Shivam Chaudhary (2/22 in 6.5 overs) was the pick of the bowlers for Railways.

Ponnam Rahul & Rohan Kunnummal obliterate Meghalaya on Day 1
A whirlwind 97-ball 107 from Rohan Kunnumnal and an unbeaten 117-ball 91 has helped Kerala assume a commanding position on the opening day as they finished at 1/205 in just 36 overs.
Earlier, Meghalaya was knocked over for a mere 148 in just 40.4 overs thanks to Eden Apple Tom, who claimed 4/41. The opening duo of S. Sreesanth and Manukrishnan shared five wickets between them.
Captain Punit Bisht was the lone contributor for Meghalaya, scoring 93 out of 148 runs in total.
