The Pakistan cricket team will likely undergo massive changes following their Asia Cup 2023 humiliation in Sri Lanka. The ‘Men in Green’, under Babar Azam, sustained back-to-back defeats in the Super Four stage of the tournament.

After registering impressive wins over Nepal and Bangladesh, the Pakistan team coped a 228-run larruping at the hands of their arch-rivals India. A couple of days later in Colombo, they failed to topple Asia Cup 2023 co-hosts Sri Lanka in a tense final-over thriller.

As per reports, PCB chief selector Inzamam-ul-Haq and Head of Technical Committee Misbah-ul-Haq are considering the possibility of making radical changes in the team by keeping captain Babar Azam, Director Mickey Arthur and head coach Grant Bradburn into the loop.

PCB seniors to make hard decision ahead of WC 2023

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is yet to unveil team’s composition for next month’s World Cup 2023 in India. While many speculated Pakistan’s entire Asia Cup 2023 line-up to take flight to India for the ODI spectacle, injuries to Haris Rauf and Naseem Shah as well as the recent run-of-form of several senior members seems to have jolted the selection committee.

Moreover, Inzamam-ul-Haq and Misbah-ul-Haq are even considering to make some changes within the team for the 2023 World Cup. As per reports, they are about to enter discussions with Babar Azam, Mickey Arthur and Grant Bradburn for the same.

Earlier this week, captain Babar stated that young pacer Naseem Shah might well miss Pakistan’s initial World Cup 2023 matches. After sustaining an injury to his right shoulder during team’s Super Four outing against India, Shah was advised to take rest by the medical team in a bid to recover in time for the tournament.

Pakistan will go up against Netherlands to launch their World Cup 2023 campaign in Hyderabad. The match is slated to be played on October 6.
