Pakistan came into the Asia Cup 2023 as one of the favourites but ended up on the wrong side of things as they finished last in the Super 4 stage with defeats against India and Sri Lanka. Former Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Ramiz Raja, on his YouTube channel, speaks against his team for the below-par performance and intent shown in the tournament.

Talking about the 228-run massive loss against India, Raja called it a 'psychological dent' on the team as they failed to recover from it, costing them the crucial game versus Sri Lanka. He mentioned that the team looked afraid to score, causing them to be unable to dominate the opposition.

“The massive defeat against India has given a psychological dent to Pakistan. They seemed to carry that loss in this match as well. They looked timid and scared and failed to close out the game. Babar Azam and top order looked over-cautious. They lacked authority,”

Further, Ramiz did not mince his words when he attacked opener Fakhar Zaman, as he has often thrown his wicket in these matches. Adding to it, former cricketer suggested Fakhar to drop himself from the team after such horrendous show alongside probing Babar Azam's captaincy.

“Fakhar Zaman is a walking wicket nowadays. His body language is looking shocking. I think Fakhar should himself refuse to play. On a slower track, Babar has struggled, barring one or two innings. He needs to step up as captain as well. He should take authoritative decisions.”

To conclude, Pakistan's journey has come to an end, and it is now between Sri Lanka and India to fight for the Asia Cup title on 17th September in the finals.
