Ravichandran Ashwin, the former Indian off-spinner, has asked Chennai Super Kings to clarify their plans for him. The development has been reported by ESPNCricinfo, and it is understood that the Tamil Nadu cricketer wants to understand how the franchise intends to use him in the next edition.
Ravi Ashwin Wants To Understand CSK's Plans For Next Season
Chennai Super Kings bought Ravi Ashwin for 9.75 crore in the IPL 2025 auction, but the homecoming did not go well, as Ashwin picked just seven wickets in the season. The off-spinner was also expensive, and CSK played him in just nine matches, which raised concerns over his future in the franchise.
Now, with plenty of trade rumours for the next season floating around, an ESPNCricinfo source has stated Ashwin is ready to part ways with CSK if he doesn't fit into their plans for the next season. Recently, there were also reports that Ravi Ashwin is likely to leave CSK, but the reason for the separation was not revealed.

Thus, there are high chances that Ravichandran Ashwin will not be part of the Chennai Super Kings squad in the next season. The cricketer made his IPL debut for CSK in the 2009 season and played for them till 2015. He then played for different franchises, and after a successful stint at RR for three seasons, CSK bought him back last season.
However, with CSK ending the season at the bottom, they are likely to take some bold calls and could release some of their star players. As far as Ashwin is concerned, he played in TNPL after IPL 2025, and there is still uncertainty whether he would continue playing in IPL or would retire from the league, if he parts ways with Chennai Super Kings. Ashwin might also be traded to another franchise if he is not in CSK's plans, and more clarity on his IPL future is expected to come soon.
