As India gears up for the highly anticipated ICC Champions Trophy 2025, star opener Shubman Gill and pace sensation Arshdeep Singh received a motivational send-off during a meeting with Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann.
The interaction, aimed at supporting the Men in Blue, highlighted the duo’s pivotal roles in India’s campaign for the global tournament, set to unfold in Pakistan from February 19 to March 9 this year.
Shubman Gill, fresh from a dominant performance against England, is poised to anchor India’s top order, while Arshdeep’s lethal left-arm pace adds firepower to the bowling attack.
Gill, Arshdeep Meets Punjab CM
The two stars met the CM with their families and their discussion with CM Mann not only celebrated their individual achievements but also symbolized the state’s pride in their ascent as cricket’s emerging icons.
Gill was present with his father Lakhwinder Singh while Arshdeep Singh was seen exchanging greetings with the CM with his parents Darshan Singh and Baljit Kaur.
Gill And Arshdeep's ODI Contributions
Gill, who received his maiden ODI cap back in 2019, has been scintillating in the format with the bat. In 50 ODIs, Gill has amassed 2,587 runs at an impressive average of 60.16 and a strike rate of 101.93. The young opener has already registered seven centuries and 15 half-centuries, with a career-best score of 208.
Meanwhile, Arshdeep Singh who is much younger in Gill's respect to earn his maiden ODI cap, impressed with his 14 wickets in 9 matches at an average of 23.00, with his best bowling figures being 5/37. With an economy rate of 5.17, Arshdeep has proven to be a valuable asset in the limited-overs format. Commendably, playing 3 T20Is in the recently concluded England ODI series, Singh has managed to bag 4 wickets at an economy rate of 7.89.
With the emerging stars ready to clash on the big stage, India is ready for the ICC event. The Champions Trophy 2025 will pit India against arch-rivals Pakistan, Bangladesh, and New Zealand in the group stage. The Men in Blue will kick off their campaign against Bangladesh on February 20 in Dubai.
