Pakistan skipper Babar Azam has thrown the ball in Virat Kohli’s court by saying that the pressure would be on India as they are the more fancied side in the mega India- Pakistan clash in the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup 2021.
"I think India will be under more pressure as compared to Pakistan during the World Cup match,” Babar was quoted as saying by PTI.
The two teams are supposed to meet each other on October 24 at 07:30 pm Indian Standard Time in Dubai International Cricket Stadium in Dubai.
Babar, the number one ranked ODI and number two ranked T20I batter was fairly confident about playing in the UAE saying that it is like home to his team. "It is like playing at our home ground when we play at UAE venues and we want to give our 100 per cent on the field coupled with that,’ he said.
There is little doubt in Babar’s claims about UAE being their second home as Pakistan played its home international fixtures in UAE ever since the 2009 Lahore attack on Sri Lankan cricketers. It is only 2020 that West Indies, Zimbabwe, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh toured Pakistan and international cricket began once again.
At the end of the chat, the 26-year-old Lahore born said that his team would like to, ‘start our campaign by defeating India."
Both India and Pakistan are drawn in Group 2 of the Super 12 stage alongside New Zealand and two teams making it through the Qualifying round which begins on October 17.
