Pooja Vastrakar joins Brisbane Heat ahead of WBBL 2022

Indian budding maestro Pooja Vastrakar is stetching her fame as the blazing all-rounder has now be signed by Brisbane Heat for the forthcoming season of the Women's Big Bash League.

Star Indian all-rounder Pooja Vastrakar has joined Brisbane Heat ahead of the upcoming season of Womens Big Bash League (WBBL). With this, she becomes only the third Indian player after Poonam Yadav and Smriti Mandhana to represent the Heat in the lucrative league.

In his reaction, Heat head coach Ashley Noffke sounded pretty pleased with having a player of Pooja's caliber.

The former Australian international hailed the 22-year-old's all-round abilities and expected her to make Heat reach new heights in the mega-event.

"Pooja is an outstanding athlete. She bowls with sharp pace, can find the boundary with the bat down the order and is an absolute jet in the field," Noffke said.

"We're pleased to welcome her to the WBBL. She's certainly a player of the future for India and one that we expect can make a difference for the Heat this summer," he added.

Pooja grabbed many eyeballs exhibiting incredible consistency during India's tour Down Under in 2021. She was also phenomenal in the 50-over World Cup played earlier this year. Those magical performances are said to have played a massive role in her BBL signing.

Notably, Pooja is Heat's second overseas signing after Amelia Kerr. She is in India's Commonwealth Games squad but will miss the first game against Australia owing to COVID-19 infection.
