The wait is almost over as the Champions Trophy is going up on the big stage within just one day. On February 19, the cricket world will witness a fresh chapter of the global event and an ICC event will come back on Pakistan soil after 29 years.
Before the tournament commenced, security was a huge concern in the country. But to host an uninterrupted event, Pakistan has taken the security to next level.
The Massive Security Arrangements For Lahore
After eight years, the Champions Trophy is coming back and Pakistan is all set to host the marquee event. Keeping security concerns in mind, the PCB and Punjab Police are now assuring the cricket world a secure environment in the tournament.
As per the reports, Punjab Police’s spoke person assured 12,000 police will be there in the security duties in Lahore and Rawalpindi For Champions Trophy. In addition, the Punjab Police and the Pakistan Cricket Board have finalized the security agencies to ensure a smooth and safe event.
In Lahore, a massive security force of 8,000 personnel will be deployed, including 12 senior officers, 39 DSPs, 86 inspectors, 6,673 constables, and 700 upper subordinates. Keeping female security in mind, 129 female constables will be there.
Rawalpindi Is All Set To Host the Tournament Under Tight Security
For Rawalpindi Stadium, over 5000 personnel will be on duty including six senior officers, 15 DSPs, 50 inspectors, 4000 constables, and 500 upper subordinates. For Rawalpindi, 100 female personnel will be there to ensure female security.
Punjab Inspector General of Police Dr Usman Anwar already ensured the security and assured the visiting teams that the travel routes, residence, and also the stadium will be well secured. With a combination of intelligence-based operations and heightened vigilance, every movement will be closely monitored through advanced cameras, ensuring maximum safety .
To ensure smooth traffic flow, traffic wardens will be stationed across key areas and venues, while special parking arrangements will be made for spectators. Frequent police patrols will keep the streets secure, provisioning the best security to the cricket world.
