Pakistan name strong squads for Asia Cup and Netherlands ODIs

Star fast bowler Shaheen Afridi is set to be back in action as Pakistan have announced two formidable squads for the upcoming ODI series against Netherlands and the subsequent Asia Cup.

The omission of experienced fast bowler Hasan Ali from both squads marks another significant highlight of the selection. Hasan has had disappointing time with the ball in recent times, which has led to his exclusion.

Naseem Shah has been picked as Hasan's replacement and is expected to dismantle the opposition's batting lineup with his sheer pace.

On the other hand, the young Salman Ali Agha has earned a recall into the ODI team following his impressive outings in domestic competitions.

There will be some changes from the squad that faces the Netherlands to the one that will take the field in the Asia Cup, with Abdullah Shafique, Imam-ul-Haq, Mohammad Haris, Salman Ali Agha and Zahid Mehmood being replaced by Asif Ali, Haider Ali, Iftikhar Ahmed and Usman Qadir.

In his reaction, Chief selector Muhammad Wasim said,

" We have only made changes that were necessary. Both the competitions are important for us and, as such, we have picked our best available players in consultation with the captain and head coach."
