In a significant development, the International Cricket Council (ICC) penalised Pakistan for the third consecutive time in the New Zealand ODI series. Under Mohammad Rizwan's leadership, Pakistan had a huge setback in the three-match ODI leg, with the hosts embarrassing them with a clean-sweep.

Pakistan Fined Once Again For Slow Over Rate

Meanwhile, Pakistan breached a major Code of Conduct, as the ICC fined them heftily after the series concluded. The Men in Green failed to bowl their full quota of overs within the stipulated time, falling short of the target by an over.

As a result, the ICC match referee Jeff Crowe found the visitors guilty of violating Article 2.22 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, which relates to minimum over-rate offences. So, as Pakistan were one over short, the players were fined five per cent of their match fees.

Pakistan skipper Mohammad Rizwan accepted the sanctions; so, the match officials didn't conduct a formal hearing.

Pakistan's Shocking Performance In NZ ODIs

Led by Rizwan, Pakistan were shambolic in the three-match ODI series, as the BlackCaps swatted them aside by three-nil. The third ODI at Bay Oval in Mount Maunganui was a one-sided affair, which the Kiwis won comfortably by 43 runs.

Batting first, New Zealand posted a challenging total of 264 runs in the allotted 42 overs. In response, Pakistan were bundled out for 221, with Ben Sears dismantling their batting unit with a sensational five-wicket haul.
