PAK vs WI | 'We executed our plans and got the desired results'- Babar Azam

Pakistan skipper Babar Azam has attributed his side's recent success to pinpoint execution of planning and trying out different combinations after his team clean swept the West Indies in the three-match ODI series in Multan on Sunday (June 13) evening.

The home side survived a scare in the last ODI after they were reduced to 117/5 by the Nicholas Pooran-led Windies attack, but a whirlwind 86 off 78 deliveries, and then a four-wicket-haul from Shadab Khan ensured that they wrapped up the series with a commanding 53-run win (DLS method).

Pakistan kept finding new heroes in every game. In the first game, Khushdil Shah showcased his hitting ability to finish a tense run-chase, while the second and third match saw Mohammad Nawaz and Shadab perform brilliantly.

Reacting to the 3-0 win in the post-match presentation, Babar said:

"We executed our plans and got the desired results. We are trying different combinations with bat and ball. We will try to keep continuity and also test our bench strength,"

Babar had a brilliant series with the bat as he continued to pile up hundreds in his favoured format.

The right-hander stroked a match-winning 103 (off 107 deliveries) in the first ODI, and in the process, he became the first batsman to score three consecutive tons on two separate occasions.

He crossed the 1000-run mark as captain in record time (12 innings). The 27-year-old backed it up with a half-century in the second fixture before notching up a rare failure (1) in the final ODI thanks to wrist-spinner Hayden Walsh Jr.

However, the skipper would be pleased that the likes of Imam-ul-Haq, Mohammad Nawaz, Khushdil Shah and Shadab Khan chipped in at different stages to lead the team forward amid tense situations.
