ENG vs NZ | Big blow to the Blackcaps as Jamieson ruled out of Day Four

New Zealand’s Kyle Jamieson will not take part on day four of the ongoing Test match between England and New Zealand at Trent Bridge due to a back injury.

The Kiwi paceman went out in the middle of his spell during the 94th over of England’s first innings, late on day three of the second Test on Sunday.

Jamieson bowled 16.3 overs in England’s innings, walked off the field to receive medical treatment and didn’t return to the ground before the end day’s play, which saw England finish on 473-5.

“Kyle Jamieson is off the field after experiencing sharp pain in his lower left back while bowling in the final session of day three. He is currently being assessed by medical staff and is unlikely to return to the field today,” a statement released by NZC.

However, the Blackcaps confirmed this morning that Jamieson is waiting for the outcome of the MRI scan and is ruled out of the play on day four.

“Kyle Jamieson won’t take the field on day four as he awaits an MRI scan to determine the extent of the injury to his lower left back.

Jamieson experienced sharp pain while bowling in the final session of day three, forcing him from the field,” the NZC’s statement read.

It is a big setback for the Blackcaps as they are coming off a loss in the first Test of the three-match series and are looking to win this Test match to level the series.

Skipper Tom Latham will have Trent Boult, Tim Southee, and Matt Henry available as they look to reply to England’s incredible fight back with the bat and bowl them out as early as possible, taking modest first innings lead early on day four. England are trailing by 80 runs, on 473 for 5, with Joe Root still there at 163.
