PAK vs WI 2022 | Babar Azam’s knock, Mohammad Nawaz’s four-fer sets up series win for Pak

Pakistan pipped Nicholas Pooran’s West Indies unit by 120 runs at the Multan Cricket Stadium to go 2-0 up in the three-match ODI competition.

After winning the toss, Babar Azam punched out his fourth successive 50-plus score to dismantle the West Indies bowling attack for the second time this series. Pakistan opening batter Imam-ul-Haq also unfurled a run-a-ball 72 as the home side posted a highly competitive 275-8 from their 50 overs.

West Indies lost their opening batsman Shai Hope in the first over of their response. The early setback was followed by a 67-run stand between Kyle Mayers and number 3 batter Shamarh Brooks.

Once Mayers departed for a quickfire 33, none of the remaining West Indies batters managed to preserve their wickets as the visitors were shot out for 155 inside 33 overs.

Pakistan spinner Mohammad Nawaz spun his way to collecting 4-19 off 10 overs while his teammates Mohammad Wasim and Shadab Khan mopped up the tail to finish the proceedings.

Nawaz was also adjudged as the ‘Player of the Match’, thus upstaging captain Azam in a perfect game for the hosts.

The Men in Green will now face West Indies in the third ODI at the same venue on June 12.
