  • Pak Vs Aus 1St Test Day 2 Pakistan Miles Ahead As Australian Bowlers Toil Hard For Wickets

PAK vs AUS | 1st Test | Day 2: Pakistan miles ahead as Australian bowlers toil hard for wickets

Day 2 of the historic Test match between Pakistan and Australia unfolded to be a captivating event as the home side marched on the path of dominance.

With already 245 runs on the scoreboard, Pakistani batters Imam-ul-Haq and Azhar Ali focused on further strengthening their position in the game and continued from where they left on the first day. Adopting a rather cautious approach, Imam and Azhar aimed to survive the early outburst of Aussie pacers with the second new ball.

In the first session, the left-handed opener achieved another milestone as he brought the landmark figure (150 runs), flicking Nathan Lyon's delivery to the mid-wicket region. The right-hander, on the other end, continued to grind as Australia failed to gather even a single wicket before the lunch break.

However, the second session brought a sigh of relief for the visitors after their skipper Pat Cummins trapped the southpaw LBW, who got dismissed after scoring a valiant 157-run knock, with a reserve-swinging delivery. In between, Azhar also completed his 19th Test ton.

Babar Azam walked in next as Pakistan now tried to up the ante. The 37- started batting more freely as his captain also looked brisk during his stay at the crease. However, an extraordinary throw from Marnus Labuschagne that hit the stumps directly resulted in Babar's undoing for 36 runs.

Azhar continued in his typical fashion and made the Aussie bowlers toil had. Soon after, the right-handed batter joined Imam in the 150-run club in the Test match. Eventually, he fell to Labuschange after scoring a mammoth 185-run knock.

Mohammad Rizwan and Iftikhar Ahmed partnered with each other and attempted to take the innings forward. The plan was to score runs at a rapid pace. Ultimately, Pakistan declared at the score of 476 runs for mere four wickets.

Australian openers Usman Khawaja and David Warner came out to bat but the day from thereon lasted only for an over as bad light stopped play. The visitors as of now have put 5 runs on the board with all wickets remaining in their hands.

Sunil Gavaskar makes shocking comments post Shane Warne’s demise

Former Indian captain Sunil Gavaskar faced severe backlash after his shameful take on recently departed legend Shane Warne, who passed away due to a suspected heart attack on Friday. Gavaskar, while expressing his feelings on the demise of the legendary leg-spinner Shane Warne, the host of the show asked the ex-Indian skipper to rate Warne among the best spinners of all time. Surprisingly, the former opener refused to rate him as the best spinner and mentioned Muttiah Muralitharan and Indian spinners were ahead of the spin wizard in terms of bowling. ‘Sunny G’ revealed how Warney was always the first one to reach out to him and his colleagues in the evenings for meals. “He was looking to live life king-size”, Gavaskar remarked, further adding: “Maybe, because he lived life in such a manner, is perhaps why his heart couldn’t take it and he died so soon”, with the reference to his suspected heart attack. “No, I wouldn’t say that no. For me the Indian spinners and Muttiah Muralitharan were better than Shane Warne,” Gavaskar told India Today. “He had a pretty ordinary record against India and took a five-for once. I wouldn’t call him the greatest as he failed in India. Muttiah Muralitharan was impressive against the Indians and for me, he was far better than Warne,” the cricketer-turned commentator further mentioned. His comments on the news channel didn't sit well with the fans as he faced a mighty backlash on social media platforms. People felt that such irresponsible comments don't suit one of the greats of the game, especially about the best leg-spinner the world has come across. Gavaskar indirectly belittled the five-wicket haul that Shane Warne took against India in the 2004 tour, mentioning that he was batting consultant of the Indian team and he told his guys not to concede a five-wicket haul to the spin wizard Shane Warne. He further stated that he was very upset by that shot of Zaheer Khan which he played against Warne to help him complete his five-for against India.
