Northern Superchargers game vs Manchester Originals under threat after two players test Covid positive

After the lateral flow tests resulted in two of the Northern Super Chargers players testing positive for Covid-19, their clash against manchester originals on Thursday at Headingley in the Hundred’s men’s competition has come under threat. The team had to undergo RT-PCR to confirm that no more people tested positive for the deadly virus. 

Played without strict bubble conditions as opposed to many other T20 leagues, The Hundred has so far remained undisturbed from Covid-19 even as Trent Rockets coaching staff including the Men’s chief Andy Flower and London Spirit’s chief coach Shane Warne forced to isolate after testing positive for the virus. 

Among the players, only Steven Mullaney of the Rockets has had to isolate, but is now back and playing. It was expected that since many of the county players tested positive during the English domestic season played in an open bubble, The Hundred too would be affected by the spread of the virus. But to date, no match has been halted or cancelled because of it. 

There is a provision in the tournament that in the case of a Covid-19 cancellation, the points system would become a ‘percentage of points’ system to make it fair for all the teams.

The Superchargers are lying in the bottom half of the table with four points from six games while Originals would play their fifth match on Tuesday, August 10 against London Spirit.
