  • No Praise High Enough Cricketing Fraternity Lauds Root Bairstow After Englands Historic Chase

“No praise high enough,” Cricketing fraternity lauds Root-Bairstow after England's historic chase

We are running out of superlatives to describe the dynamic batting duo of Joe Root and Jonny Bairstow. After making a complete mockery of the Kiwi bowling attack, the two middle-order batters have absolutely demolished the Indian bowling attack in the fifth Test at Edgbaston. As a result, England reached a new landmark in their Test cricket history, hunting down a score of 378 runs.

With 120-odd runs required on the final day of the Test match, Jonny Bairstow and Joe Root made the chase look like a walk in the park. The hosts chased down their highest total in Test cricket with seven wickets to spare. Bairstow registered his sixth ton in eight Test innings, ending unbeaten on 114 runs. On the other hand, there is no stopping Joe Root in red-ball cricket at the moment.

The former English skipper scored an unbeaten 142 off 173 balls, playing shots all across the field. The English duo put on an unbeaten stand of 269 runs for the fourth wicket as the hosts claimed their fourth consecutive Test victory. England also became the first side to chase down scores of 250 or more on four consecutive occasions in Test cricket.

It has been an eventful summer for England up till now. After a limited overs series against India, Ben Stokes and Co. will lock horns against South Africa in a three-match Test series.

The cricketing fraternity took to social media to praise England’s historic chase spearheaded by Bairstow and Root.

Former Lions skipper Michael Vaughan was left stunned with the ease with which England gobbled down the massive total.

Former South African cricketer and Mr.360, AB de Villiers, also applauded the level of cricket brought out by both sides in the fifth Test.

England’s new white-ball captain Jos Buttler also took to Twitter to congratulate the red-ball side for this incredible feat.

Former Indian cricketer Irfan Pathan and Wasim Jaffer also joined the bandwagon…
