  • New Zealands Selection Process Not A Big Concern Says Ceo David White

New Zealand's selection process not a big concern, says CEO David White

A year ago, New Zealand were crowned the ICC World Test Champions after beating India at the Hampshire Bowl by eight wickets. However, not much has gone right for the side since lifting the coveted silverware. Their performance in the ongoing World Test Championship has been disappointing.

They lost to Bangladesh at Bay Oval in January, followed by a loss to South Africa at Hagley Oval in February. But it was the whitewash by England most recently, which was their most disappointing performance since winning the Test Championship.

However, NZ cricket is unlikely to make any drastic changes for their next assignment, their chief executive David White confirmed. White said he was in touch with head coach Gary Stead and has been assessing the losses.

"I've obviously been talking closely with Gary and the team," NZ Cricket chief executive David White was quoted as saying by stuff.co.nz.

"We've lost key moments, and this series hasn't gone how we would've liked it to have gone, but the Black Caps have been outstanding for a number of years.

"We will reassess, we'll review the tour like we do with every tour, but we'll work through it in a calm, methodical way to ensure that we take the lessons from, from what's happened, and we move forward."

New Zealand have an away series against Pakistan and a busy home schedule featuring two Tests against England.

These two Test matches will not be a part of the current World Test Championship period. The opening Test of that series will be under lights in Mount Maunganui.

As per White's comments, the management is unlikely to make any drastic changes to their team selection for the upcoming games.

"Selection is not something specifically that we'll be looking at, but all areas of our game will be discussed," he said.
