New Zealand Cricket confirms player availability for IPL’s UAE leg

The New Zealand Cricket CEO David White confirmed that its players would be available for the second leg of the Indian Premier League which is scheduled to take place from September 19 in the United Arab Emirates.

"New Zealand skipper Kane Williamson, Trent Boult, James Neesham, Kyle Jamieson and Lockie Ferguson will feature in the second phase of the IPL 2021 in the UAE," White was quoted as saying by Pakistani media house Geo.

The IPL, which began in April this year was initially suspended after a lot of cases of Covid-19 broke out in the team bio-bubbles and later on it was postponed after the first 29 games that had taken place by May 4.

After this announcement, a franchise owner was relieved as otherwise, they would have been looking halter skelter to find replacements for the foreign stars. “We are much relieved now. BCCI are in talks with English and Australian boards to come to a consensus regarding this. Given April and May are earmarked for the IPL, they are right to raise their own objections, but we are now confirmed to witness New Zealand players in action,” the official was quoted as saying to cricket.com

Although New Zealand Cricket might have agreed, England Wales Cricket Board have made it pretty clear that their players won’t be participating in the second leg, so it is now down to Cricket Australi and how it would respond to players’ availability. These three nations along with the West Indies supply the largest chunk of foreign players and support staff in the IPL.

Bangladesh coach Domingo miffed with Cricket Australia over Mushfqiur Rahim bubble fiasco

Mushfiqur Rahim, one of Bangladesh’s key players going into the T20 World Cup in November this year, has been not allowed to enter the team bubble for Tigers’ five math T20I series against Australia at home. Rahim skipped the white-ball segment of the Zimbabwe tour to be with his ailing father and also to make sure that he is able to enter into the team bubble. But as things stand, Australia refused his entry saying that he did not have the mandatory qualifications. This did not go down well with the Bangladeshi coach Russell Domingo who termed the Australian behaviour as disappointing. "I can't understand the stringent rules Australia placed on Mushfiqur's bubble. I think 10 days would have surely been enough. It's very disappointing the way they went about it," Domingo was quoted as saying by Cricbuzz. “Mushfiqur is surely a loss for us but we have got a big squad and some quality players to replace him,” he added. The 46 year was also upbeat about facing the Australian pace bowling which includes accomplished men like Mitchell Starc and Josh Hazlewood. "Mitchell Starc and Hazlewood are quality bowlers and we have looked at some of their footage. But at the end of the day, you will play the ball not the man. End of the day they are humans and will bowl some bad balls," said the South African. Bangladesh will be going into the series without the services of regular openers Tamim Iqbal and Liton Das and even that does not make Domingo fear for anything as he openly claimed that Bangladesh is playing this series to win it. “We are not coming up just to compete. We want to make sure we give Australia a good go and at the end of the day we are going to try and win the series," he said. Till now, the teams have played each other four times and all four have been one of the meetings in the World Cup and hence this would be the first-ever bilateral T20I series between the two teams. Bangladesh would be looking to register their first-ever win against the mighty Kangaroos when they face them in the five-match series starting with the first match scheduled for August 3 at the Shere Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka.

The Hundred | Oval Invincibles vs Welsh Fire: Where to watch Live, Probable XI, Fantasy XI

The 16th game of The Hundred will be between the sides that have had middling performances so far in the competition and they find themselves in the middle of the points table. The Welsh Fire have won two out of three games this season while the Oval Invincibles have managed to win only one game out of an equal number of matches played. However, the Fire have ridden on the charismatic bat of Jonny Bairstow, who is all set to miss the remainder of the competition having been brought back to the England Tests squad. It would be interesting to see if the Invincibles will be able to lift their game in absence of their captain and one of the biggest match-winners in Bairstow. They would bank on the trio of Tom Banton, Glenn Phillips and captain Ben Duckett to win them games from hereon. For the Invincibles, Jason Roy and Sunil Narine have not quite got in the groove yet to turn games on their own. They will also be helpful for Sam Billings’ continuation of good form. The wicketkeeper-batsman has had scores of 49 and 3 in two out of the three games and the Invincibles will be relying on the trio of Roy, Narine and Billings to lift their game. However, there will be a long boundary on one part of the pitch, and that can dictate the bowling and batting tactics on Monday night. The Hundred | London Spirit vs Southern Brave: Where to watch Live, Probable XI, Fantasy XI

London Spirit has a horrid time at the start of the competition, unable to quin any of their two completed games and the only point that they have is from the washout against the Oval Invincibles in the London Derby. Eoin Morgan’s side got close to a whiff of a win against the Trent Rockets but were unable to finish off because of their batting woes. Now the Spirit faces the Brave spirit from the Southerners who have tested their first win in this competition in their very first home match. Buoyant by that confidence they would look to keep going the winning trail and with skipper James Vince in form, they have every chance to get the win. Although considered one of the best cricketing wickets for providing assistance to bowlers. But in The Hundred, such wickets become a bore for people who come out to see runs and boundaries. Similar was the case in the last game when Spirit could only score 116, losing the game by seven runs, unable to chase down even 124. Will there be a change in its attitude for this game is yet to be seen. Weather Forecast The chances of precipitation are 35% at the start of the game and will go on decreasing as time progresses, so hopefully, the audience will have a game at hand, How long will be the match is a question that shall be answered only by time.
