My name always sells, have no problem with it: Hardik Pandya

Hardik Pandya's name has constantly been embroiled in controversies outside the field. Hardik's rash statements, fashion choices, and lavish lifestyle has made him the media's favourite child, especially after an infamous episode with KL Rahul on Koffee with Karan television show.

After guiding the Gujarat Titans into the final of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 last evening (May 24), Pandya interacted with the media and quipped that his name sells, and he finds no problem with that.

"The name 'Hardik Pandya' always sells. I've no problem with it, and I just take it easy with a smiling face,"

Leading the Ahmedabad franchise in their debut season, Pandya won 10 out of their 14 league games and topped the points table to qualify for the playoffs. His form has been phenomenal, scoring 453 runs with the bat, the highest run-getter for the club, just four runs ahead of David Miller (449).

Pandya spoke in detail about his mentor Mahendra Singh Dhoni, saying how his influence has helped him come out of the challenging phase.

"Obviously, Mahi Bhai has played a big role in my life. He's a dear brother, a dear friend, and family to me ...I've learnt a lot of good things from him. For me, it was more about being individually strong which I'm really proud of myself as well as how I was able to manage all the parts," the 29-year-old said.

Back in 2019, Pandya was handed a two-match ban and fined INR 20 lakhs by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) for his statement on Karan's show, which was directed toward women in his life. As a result, he was dropped from playing XI as well.

He later apologized for his poor remarks.

On return from India's debacle at the World Cup T20I in the UAE and Oman last year, Pandya was stopped at the airport, where Indian customs officials reportedly seized two watches worth around Rs 5 crore.

The Gujarat-born later clarified that the watches were worth Rs 1.5 crores on social media.

IPL 2022 | SRH's Umran Malik, Abhishek Sharma among nurtured young blood amidst torrid season

The Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) had a mixed 2022 season of Indian Premier League (IPL). They started with two defeats and found great rhythm with five wins in a row, only to capitulate their campaign with five losses in subsequent games. Amidst the commotion of an inconsistent run, a struggling captain, and a revenge tale of one David Warner, the Orange Army managed to unearth some of the season's finds for Indian cricket. Abhishek Sharma's insurgency with the bat, Umran Malik's thunderbolts with the ball, or Rahul Tripathi becoming a Suryakumar Yadav 2.0; the SRH think-tank ticked all the right brackets in India's uncapped talent department. SRH's uncapped Indian trio chart memorable IPL 2022 with top-performer tags The uncapped SRH duo of Abhishek and Tripathi consistently provided their side with some explosive starts at the top of the order. Such was their dominance with the bat that the two ended their IPL 2022 campaign by becoming the top run-getters among uncapped players this season. On the other hand, the ‘Jammu Express’ unfurled lightning pace at will. Not only did the 22-year-old pacer clock some of the fastest deliveries this season, but he also backed his raw pace with enough wickets to his name. As a result, while Malik is placed fourth among the season's highest wicket-takers, he remains the best among the uncapped contingent of the tournament. Here, we take a look at how each of the three SRH's top-performing uncapped cricketers has fared this year: Abhishek Sharma: The Amritsar-born batter made his IPL debut back in 2018 at 17. This year, the young batting star finally had his breakthrough season as he amassed 426 runs across 14 matches. Leading the race in terms of runs among uncapped players, the SRH management may have found a permanent opening batter in Sharma for years to come. Rahul Tripathi: The Ranchi cricketer is yet to make his Indian debut at the age of 31, despite delivering a string of solid performances for his state and IPL sides. The cricketer's fate reminds one-and-all of SKY, the MI legend who donned the national jersey after turning 30. Former Indian cricketers Virender Sehwag and Harbhajan Singh were among those who batted for Tripathi's inclusion into the national setup after the BCCI had announced squads for the upcoming series against South Africa. Performance-wise, Tripathi was second only to his SRH teammate Abhishek Sharma in terms of uncapped batters this season. In 14 matches, the right-hander aggregated 413 runs with three half-centuries and an impressive strike-rate of 158.24. Umran Malik: When Malik was not busy disturbing the furniture, he was busy feeding catches to his fielders throughout the season. The speed demon snared 22 wickets from 14 games at an average of 20.18. Clocking consistently above 150 kmph, Malik won the 'Fastest Delivery of the Match' award in each of the 14 SRH matches this year. His raw pace and wicket-taking ability earned him a national call up ahead of the South African T20Is. While SRH endured a poor run this time around, the Orange Army will be seen again next year, hopefully playing half of their league matches on their home turf, unlike this season. While the team management and franchise owners are expected to make some changes at the auction, fans can expect a return of Sharma, Tripathi and Malik to the side for future endeavours.
