Maya Sonawane’s bowling action sparks more attention than her debut

Maharashtra-based Maya Sonawane made her debut for the Velocity in Match 2 of this year’s Women’s T20 Challenge. However, her bowling action garnered more attention than her maiden outing up on the winning side.

Several fans took to Twitter and commented about Sonawane’s unique bowling action. Some of them compared her to former South African men’s cricketer Paul Adams, who was known for a similar action during his playing days.

“So much pain watching her bowl” – Lisa Sthalekar

Australian legend Lisa Sthalekar also took note of Sonawane’s bowling and tweeted her reaction about it. Amidst the Women’s T20 Challenge game between Velocity and the Supernovas, Sthalekar wrote:

“My body is in so much pain watching her bowl…whilst it is unique and unique can sometimes be gold, can it be sustained at a top level for years? 🤷🏽‍♀️ Jump in physiotherapist please.”

Apart from the former Australian women’s cricketer, here is some of the other hilarious reactions shared by fans on the micro-blogging site.

Maya Sonawane bowled two wicketless overs on her debut, giving away 19 runs.

She will now be seen in Velocity’s next match in this year’s Women’s T20 Challenge. The Deepti Sharma-led Velocity will face the Trailblazers in a virtual semi-final on May 26 at the MCA Stadium in Pune. The winner of this contest will set a date with Supernovas for the final on May 28 at the same venue.
