The much awaited Asia Cup 2022 is just around the corner. One player who is being discussed the most ahead of the tournament is Virat Kohli, who, for the past three years, has been inconsistent in his performances.

The former India captain, however, has a good record against Pakistan, and will be looking to bounce back to form when India take on their arch rivals on Sunday, August 28.

Mohammad Azharuddin, the former Indian captain, recently posted a cryptic tweet, which seems to be directed towards Kohli.

"'Out of form' a phrase that puts unprecedented amount of pressure on a player. Let them just go ahead and play with no speculations. #AsiaCup2022," Azharuddin tweeted.

While there is no mention of Kohli in the tweet, it would be safe to assume that it was written for the batsman.

Interestingly, India’s first game in the Asia Cup, which is against Pakistan, will also be the 100th T20 international for Kohli. In 99 T20Is so far, the batsman has 3308 runs at an average of 50.12 and a strike rate of 137.66.

The Asia Cup 2022 will be played from August 27 to September 11 in the United Arab Emirates. Six teams will participate in the tournament - India, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Afghanistan qualified for the tournament automatically, while Hong Kong won the qualifying tournament against Kuwait, Singapore and UAE to take up the sixth spot.

With seven titles, India is the most successful team in the history of the tournament, and they are the defending champions as well, having won the previous edition in 2018.

India will play their first game against Pakistan on August 28, followed by the second game against Hong Kong on August 31. India’s next few games will depend on the results of the first few games of the tournament. The final will be played on September 11 in Dubai.
