Mitchell Marsh fined $5,000 for 'unacceptable' behavior against umpire's decision

The Perth Scorchers’ all-rounder Mitchell Marsh has been fined $5,000 for showing aggressive dissent against the umpiring decision that ruled him out in the Qualifier against Sydney Sixers. However, Marsh has been deemed luck to get away with just fine and avoiding a suspension that would have ruled out of the Challenger Final due to be played on

Cricket Australia had held a hearing after the completion of the game between the Scorchers and the Sixers and Marsh was found guilty of a Level 2 breach of Code of Conduct. The breach can lead to a suspension or a maximum penalty of $10,000, but Marsh’s good conduct and a ‘clean’ record on the field over the last 18 months worked in his favour and he got away with the fine of a mere $5,000.

Marsh accepted the breach of code of conduct set by Cricket Australia and he acknowledged his response to a bad decision by the umpire was ‘unacceptable’ and that he does not want to set that example to young cricketers who follow him.

"I accept the fine handed down to me, my reaction to the umpire's decision was unacceptable and not the example I want to be setting for any young cricketer," Marsh said.

"I have complete respect for the umpires and the job they do. I'll learn from this and look forward to Thursday night’s match."

India's confidence will be sky high after series win in Australia: Broad

England fast bowler Stuart Broad is of the opinion that it is pretty tough to get India captain Virat Kohli out but the team needs focus on its strength. In his latest column on Daily Mail, that India will be riding on the confidence after beating Australia in their own backyard. “This is not an easy place to tour, and India's confidence will be sky high from winning at the Gabba to complete a series victory in Australia earlier this month. I can tell you that they had supporters within this England team throughout that decisive match in Brisbane,” Broad wrote in his column. Broad further lauded India’s intent and said that any team would be “proud” of how the injury-plagued Indian team performed in Australia. “The togetherness, the character, spirit and willingness they showed was phenomenal. Any team in the world would have been proud of what India achieved despite being depleted by injuries. They are the World Test Championship leaders for good reason. But we have moved from being admirers to their enemy within a couple of weeks and what we cannot do is build India up in our minds. They are not impregnable,” he added. “Virat Kohli is one of the best I've ever seen but if we go through all their positives we will be defeated before we've even begun. We need to build on our own strengths,” he further wrote. The Test series between the two sides begins on February 5 in Chennai. England are touring India for four Tests, five T20Is and three ODIs.
