The Board of Control for Cricket in India is all ready to bring the Indian Premier League back to India after hosting the last edition in the United Arab Emirates.
According to TOI report, the board is considering starting the tournament in mid of April (tentatively between April 11 and 14) across various venues in the Western part of India such as Wankhede, Brabourne, DY Patil Stadium, Reliance Cricket stadium and Maharashtra Cricket Association ground in Pune for the early part of the season.
"India can't not host the IPL at home and say, it is ready to host the T20 World Cup later in the year. The BCCI conducted a very impressive IPL under a well-constructed bio-secure bubble when the pandemic was at its peak. There's no reason why the BCCI can't construct the same bubble here at home," TOI cited an unnamed BCCI official as saying.
As the tournament will go towards its business end, the action might also be moved to newly-built Sardar Patel Stadium in Ahmedabad, TOI report said further.
Notably, the board has scheduled the IPL auction for this year on February 18 after 18 in Chennai as franchises have already disclosed the list of players they have retained for the next edition.
