Chris Lynn has been a vital cog for Brisbane Heat for the last 11 seasons. In the 11 years of BBL, they have managed to reach the finals three times and won the coveted title once, and Lynn's batting at the top of the order is one of the key reasons for their success.
However, last season was not that well for Brisbane Heat. They ended up at the seventh position in the points table, and moreover, Lynn looked like a pale shadow of himself.
Former Australian wicket-keeper, and Queensland Cricket Director Ian Healy said it is bad timing that Chris finished his contract, and Brisbane Heat had a terrible season. Healy also added that it was just a cricketing reason for Heat not to continue with Chris Lynn.
"No behavioural or cultural issues came into this at all. To me, it was the fact that performing for the Heat wasn't enjoyable for Chris Lynn, and our players on the other side weren't growing, so neither were enjoying the relationship," Healy said.
Healy stated that it's time for a rebuild and create an image that is more than just a side that provided the entertainment factor.
"This is a sign that Brisbane Heat are going more to winning that entertaining. That gives a lot of pleasure to fans. I don't think the winning part has come easily for us, and neither party has been enjoying the relationship last year," Healy further added.
It looks like Heat will land Aussie Test opener Usman Khawaja, who left Sydney Thunder for family reasons. The 35-year-old has settled in Brisbane and could be a perfect fit for the Heat.
