In a significant development, India's promising fast bowler Mayank Yadav is all set to miss the upcoming England series due to injury. With India's ace speedster Jasprit Bumrah sustaining a back spasm, the Indian team management could've considered Mayank for the eight-match white-ball leg against England later this month. However, the fast bowler, known for his express pace and ability to hit the deck, is likely to miss the home assignment starting on January 22.
Mayank Yadav's Injury Update Frustrates India Before Champions Trophy
According to a TOI report, Mayank Yadav hasn't recovered from a back injury which kept him out of action for a significant period. The fast bowler looked impressive in the Bangladesh T20Is but missed the South Africa tour due to an unfortunate injury setback. As reported earlier, he was set to be ruled out until late January.
"He's suffering from a back injury and is unlikely to be fit for the England series. He hasn't even been named amongst the probables for Delhi's first Ranji match of the second leg against Saurashtra from January," a BCCI source told TOI.
Mayank developed the aforementioned injury during the Bangladesh series in October last year. Since then, He has been rehabilitating at the BCCI Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru. With serious doubts looming over Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami's Champions Trophy participation, Mayank Yadav's back injury has definitely made things tough for the BCCI selection committee.
India Squad For England ODIs To Be Picked Later
The report also claims that the BCCI selection panel will only announce India's T20I squad on the 12th. Meanwhile, the ODI squad will be revealed later, sometime around the 19th of this month.
