Justin Langer is being considered to join the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) as their head coach. The discussions are currently underway between the franchise and the former Australian opener.

If an agreement is reached between the two parties, Langer will take charge of the LSG camp for the 2024 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL).

Langer considered as a potential replacement for Flower

Several sources within the IPL have stated that Justin Langer and the LSG franchise are holding discussions for the coaching job. As per a report from Cricbuzz, the two parties have already held several rounds of negotiations.

While Langer is not currently tied for any coaching assignment, the former cricketer guided Australia from 2018 till 2022. The 105-Test veteran also coached Western Australia, his former domestic team, and Perth Scorchers in the annual Big Bash League (BBL) competition for six seasons between 2012 and 2018.

If the negotiations between Langer and LSG management reach a fruitful conclusion, the Australian legend will be replacing former Zimbabwe player Andy Flower as the new head coach of the franchise.

Flower was appointed as team’s head coach in 2021 for a two-season contract. Under his coaching tenure and KL Rahul’s leadership, the team reached the playoffs and finished third in both seasons, despite being one of the newcomers in the tournament alongside Gujarat Titans.

As per the report, other members of the LSG coaching staff like Morne Morkel, Jonty Rhodes and Vijay Dahiya will likely continue as team’s bowling, fielding and assistant coaches respectively.
