Kuldeep Yadav’s recent appreciation for Barcelona midfielder Pedri has caught the attention of the social media page of FIFA World Cup. It is worth noting that the Indian cricketer has repeatedly expressed his admiration for the Spain-based young football sensation.

On Thursday, March 6, the social media page of FIFA World Cup re-shared a quote from Indian cricketer Kuldeep Yadav. The quote in contention features the Indian spinner expressing his admiration for Barcelona and Spain football star Pedri.

Yadav even compared Pedri with the likes of former footballers and legendary midfielders Andrés Iniesta and Paul Scholes, as previously quoted by the International Cricket Council (ICC).


Kuldeep Yadav, an ardent football fan, was part of the Indian cricket team that lifted the 2024 T20 World Cup in the West Indies last year. Moreover, he also played a crucial role in India’s table-topping ODI World Cup campaigns in 2019 and 2023 before shock defeats in the semifinal and final halted their juggernaut.

Under the leadership of Rohit Sharma, the cunning spinner also played a key part in India’s Asia Cup victories in 2018 and 2023 in the UAE and Sri Lanka respectively.

Kuldeep Yadav is currently in the UAE as part of the Indian team for the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy. The left-arm spinner delivered exceptional match-winning spells against Pakistan and New Zealand as Team India topped the Group A points table of the tournament.

As of now, the 30-year-old is prepping himself alongside the rest of his teammates for India’s upcoming final match against New Zealand. The much-awaited title clash will be hosted by the Dubai International Stadium on Sunday, March 9.
