In a tragic incident, a budding cricketer from Kolkata was found dead after he was allegedly drugged and robbed while on his way to a club cricket match. Notably, the deceased was 17 years old and lost his life when he travelled 70 km away from his home in Hasnabad.
Notably, the budding cricketer Dev Ghosh left his home on January 18 for his cricket match and as per a report from Times of India, he was reportedly drugged in a bus when a couple of people gave him a spiked drink that made him drowsy. The deceased mother gave details on the incident and remarked that her son had informed her that he was robbed on his way to the match and was not feeling well.
"He was drowsy and told us he was taken by some men after he got off a bus at Science City. He was made to swallow a spiked drink before they took his wallet and phone," his father Ujjwal was quoted as saying by the publication.
Ghosh Family Kept In Dark In Regards To The Incident
Following the robbery incident, Ghosh was admitted to a hospital, where he was put on an oxygen mask and drips. However, he surrendered to the treatment and lost his life. The tragic incident has angered the Ghosh family, and they have now blamed the Kolkata police for not acting swiftly on the matter.
"Later, we learnt that he died. No one told us exactly what happened," said his mother Meena.
In recent events, there has been a rise in reportage of cases of tragic deaths while playing cricket or on the way to a cricket field.
