After incurring a disastrous ten-wicket defeat in the second Test, India are gearing up to face Australia in the third Border-Gavaskar Trophy Test at the Gabba in Brisbane. However, amid India's intense preparations, the first image of Brisbane ground's pitch has taken social media by storm.

Traditional Brisbane Pitch Awaits India, Confirms Gabba Curator

Known for its hostile playing conditions, The Gabba in Brisbane will likely have a seam-friendly surface for the third Test between India and Australia. According to the Times Of India (TOI), the venue's pitch curator David Sandurski has confirmed that a bouncy deck awaits the visitors at the iconic cricket ground.

The surface in Brisbane generally offers more pace and bounce before Christmas, which is why the hosts have strategically scheduled the third Test at this venue to expose the Indian batting unit. Had the venue hosted the fourth or fifth Test, the pitch could've been more prone to wear and tear, resulting in lesser pace and hence would've given the Indians some respite.

However, considering the pitch is relatively fresher this time around, expect it to offer significantly more assistance to the fast bowlers, unlike the 2020-21 track that witnessed India's remarkable win over the Aussies.

"Different times of year definitely makes it different; it can be a slightly different pitch. Pitches later in the season might have a bit more wear and tear while ones early in the season usually are a bit fresher and might have a bit more in them," Sandurski was quoted as saying by TOI.

"Generally speaking, we still prepare the pitch the exact same way every time to try and get the same good carry, pace and bounce that the Gabba is known for. We are just trying to make a traditional Gabba wicket like we do each year," he added.

Pace-Friendly Pitch To Test Kohli, Rohit In Brisbane?

Given that Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma have struggled to thrive under tricky batting conditions on this tour, the pace-friendly track in Brisbane might give sleepless nights to the Indian batting greats. Although they have done astoundingly in the past, the Gabba track could pose a serious threat to them as they are at the twilight of their respective careers.
