KL Rahul provides encouraging update on his fitness after successful surgery

Indian opener KL Rahul was forced out of the England tour after suffering a groin injury earlier this month. However, the 30-year-old has provided an encouraging update after undergoing successful surgery.

The Indian batter took to various social media platforms to address his fans regarding his current road to recovery.

KL Rahul was unfortunate to miss out on the five-match T20I series against South Africa. He was named the captain for the series before a sudden injury dashed his hopes. India are all set to commence its tour of England on July 1, with the postponed fifth Test being the first assignment on the list. The white-ball leg of the tour consists of three T20Is and ODIs each.

KL Rahul gives an update on his recovery status

BCCI have taken additional measures as they have decided to fly KL Rahul to Germany for his recovery process. He took to Instagram and Twitter to provide an update on his injury. "Hello, everyone. It's been a tough couple of weeks, but the surgery was successful. I'm healing and recovering well. My road to recovery has begun. Thank you for your messages and prayers. See you soon," said Rahul.

Prior to his injury, KL Rahul led Lucknow Super Giants to the playoffs in their debut IPL season. The LSG skipper stood out with the bat once again, breaching the 600-run mark with an average of over 50. This was the first time that KL Rahul led his side to the playoffs, after a couple of disappointing seasons with Punjab Kings.

The selection committee will carefully monitor KL Rahul's situation and will not want to force him into action early. However, his fitness and complete recovery should be the utmost priority, with the T20I World Cup scheduled to be held in under four months.
