Just In | Virat Kohli in Danger of Getting Banned; Entire RCB Team Fined
Virat Kohli Receives Another Sanction (Source: AP Newsroom)
It was an unforgettable moment for the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) fans when former skipper Virat Kohli came out for toss against Punjab Kings (PBKS) and again, versus Rajasthan Royals (RR) as their regular leader Faf du Plessis is battling an injury.
However, during the game against Rajasthan, RCB were found an over short during the end stages and the implications are now being felt as the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has fined the stand-in captain Kohli a hefty amount of ₹24 Lakhs as this was side's second over-rate offense of the season with first coming against Lucknow Super Giants.
Along with this, the entire side has been sanctioned ₹12 Lakhs or 25% of the fees whichever is lesser, each including the impact player who took part in the match.
Another implication of this penalty is that only four fielders are allowed outside the thirty-yard circle for the final over of the game.
The big problem with RCB is that one more penalty would lead to ban on the captain of the side which is why the Bangalore-based side needs to be quick to finish their overs to ensure that whosoever is captaining between Faf and Virat does not receives any other fines or ban.
Coming back to the league, RCB are placed fifth on the table with four wins and their next challenge will be against Kolkata Knight Riders on 26th of April.
