Josh Hazlewood records the worst bowling figures of IPL 2022

Josh Hazlewood had a forgettable outing last night as the star Australian seamer went for 64 runs in his full quota of 4 overs against the Punjab Kings (PBKS). The veteran fast bowler couldn't pick any wicket and also recorded the worst bowling figures of this year's IPL.


Hazlewood had picked 13 wickets at an economy of just 6.82 prior to yesterday's encounter against PBKS. However, his ability to consistently target the channel of uncertainty made it incredibly tough for the opposing batters to deal with him in the power-play. 


Moreover, his battle with Jonny Bairstow was expected to be a cracking contest as Hazlewood had dismissed the swashbuckling Englishman six times across all formats.


However, Bairstow completely dominated the contest by smashing the Aussie spearhead for 22 runs in his very first over. Hazlewood's miseries only aggravated with the game's progression and reached new heights in the penultimate over of Punjab's innings as he was again hit for 23 runs, this time by Bairstow's fellow countryman Liam Livingstone.


Talking about the match, PBKS posted a massive total of 209 runs courtesy of two blistering half centuries by Jonny Bairstow (66 off 29) and Liam Livingstone (70 off 42). This score proved to be too much for RCB as they could score only 155 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in the allotted 20 overs. 


Kagiso Rabada starred for PBKS with the ball picking three wickets for 21 runs, whereas Arshdeep Singh received huge accolades for getting the prized scalp of RCB's biggest hope Dinesh Karthik in a crucial stage of the match.

Case filed against USA cricket as a former employee accuses the board of racial discrimination

Racial discrimination at the professional and organizational levels has been a matter of concern in cricket. Several cricket boards have been trying their best to eradicate this issue from the grassroots level of the game. But the allegations of racial harassment by numerous players and employees have shaken the cricket fraternity from time to time. Another racial discrimination case has recently entered the scene as a formerly contracted employee of USA cricket named Kirk Greaves has filed a lawsuit against the board demanding a compensation amount of USD 2 million for the board's alleged racial discrimination during his tenure. To note, Greaves, who was contracted as the operational manager in USA cricket last year, has accused the board of having a toxic work environment, encouraging unfair employment practices, wage disparity and discrimination in his case filing. Greaves has also complained that the board used the budget set aside for his full-time conversion to increase an offer for a white-skinned employee. However, the USA cricket's spokesperson has dismissed Greaves's statements by confidently saying that the board aims at defending the allegations aggressively as those are baseless in all respects. Addressing Cricbuzz, the spokesperson revealed that the matter is currently in the able hands of the board's lawyers, and USA cricket is looking forward to dismissing the case in due course. "USA Cricket is aware of various details of a lawsuit being brought by a former contractor against USA Cricket. The individual is one of a number of contractors previously engaged by USA Cricket whose contracts were recently not renewed. All allegations in the lawsuit are entirely false and without merit, and USA Cricket denies and will aggressively defend against them," the spokesperson said. "The matter is currently in the hands of USA Cricket's lawyers. We look forward to the case being dismissed in due course and will not be making any further comment at this time," he concluded.
