Jos Buttler is a legend: Yashasvi Jaiswal

Rajasthan Royals opener Yashasvi Jaiswal spoke about his experience of batting alongside the orange cap winner Jos Buttler in the IPL 2022.

The young left-handed batter didn't have a great start to IPL 2022, and he was dropped after three low scores. However, he made a sensational comeback into the side with a match-winning knock of 68 runs against Punjab Kings.

After which, he played a few crucial knocks for the Royals and featured in the knockout games, including the final. After a poor first phase of the tournament, Jaiswal hit a purple patch in the second half of the cash-rich league as he ended the season with 258 runs in 10 matches at a strike rate of 132.99.

Due to his aggressive batting style, Jaiswal complemented Jos Buttler brilliantly in the powerplay. Jaiswal praised his senior batting partner and described him as a legend and a very good human being off the pitch. Jaiswal also opened up about how he had the upper hand over the Englishman in chess, winning against him on all occasions.

"Jos Buttler is a legend. He is an amazing person. He is a very good human being. I have played a number of games of chess against him and won on all occasions. He is our star batsman. It is fun to bat with him, share the dressing room with him and talk to him. He knows how to handle pressure. He makes batting look so easy," Yashasvi Jaiswal told The Times of India.

Rajasthan reached the final for the first time since their first IPL title win but couldn't win the all-important final, and Jaiswal is hoping for the team to return stronger next year.

"Something we at RR, say is that we have to improve and learn every day. And we will focus on the process, we will work hard, and we will make bold decisions, and the result will come automatically. And I want to see RR win the title next season. We played great cricket this season. Be it Jos (Butler), (Yuzvendra) Chahal, or anyone else in the team, we have all contributed and worked hard. We missed out on winning the title, but I am sure this team will come back stronger next season. This team is very strong. I personally want to win matches for my team."

Jaiswal has been fantastic for Mumbai in the ongoing season of the Ranji Trophy. He has smashed a century in the quarter-final and followed it up with centuries in both innings in the semi-final against Uttar Pradesh to help his team reach the final.
