Jhulan Goswami’s glittering international career came to an end following India’s emphatic ODI series win in England. The legendary speedster, who made her debut in 2002 for the ‘Women in Blue’, represented her nation in 12 Tests, 204 ODIs and 68 T20Is until her retirement.

Goswami remains the highest wicket-taker in international cricket, having collected over 350 wickets across formats. Following her retirement, Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) President Avishek Dalmiya has announced that the committee is planning to name a stand at the iconic Eden Gardens after the legendary cricketer.

Eden Gardens likely to have a stand named after Jhulan Goswami

On the day of Jhulan Goswami’s final international appearance for India Women, CAB President Avishek Dalmiya stated that the committee is considering to name an Eden Gardens stand after the speedster.

Dalmiya also lamented the timing of her retirement, considering the Women’s IPL is set to make its debut next year. He said:

“We are planning to name a stand after Jhulan Goswami at Eden Gardens. She is a special cricketer and deserves to be with the legends. We will approach the army for the necessary permission. We are also planning a special felicitation for her on the annual day.”

“At CAB we give equal importance to women’s cricket and hence we see so many talented cricketers. They are of course inspired by Jhulan’s achievements. Though she has retired from international cricket we would love her to play in the woman’s IPL.”
