The high-profile IPL trade between Sanju Samson and Ravindra Jadeja, along with England star Sam Curran, is almost complete and now awaits only BCCI’s final approval, according to reports (The Hindu). Both CSK and RR have already submitted their Expressions of Interest (EOI) and received consent from all players involved.
If cleared, this deal will be one of the biggest trades ahead of the IPL 2026 auction.
RR earlier also wanted to add young batting star Dewald Brevis in the multi-player trade, but Chennai refused to let him go after his strong impact as an injury replacement in IPL 2025. This led RR to trade Sanju Samson in exchange for Jadeja and Curran.
Both Samson and Jadeja were retained by their franchises last year for ₹18 crore, while Curran was bought for ₹2.4 crore.
CSK’s long pursuit of Samson set to end
Chennai Super Kings have reportedly been working for months to bring Sanju Samson into their squad. If Samson joins CSK, the star player is expected to bring stability, leadership experience, and attacking flair to the top order.
According to the same report, CSK skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad, head coach Stephen Fleming, and MS Dhoni are set to meet today (November 14) to finalise the franchise’s retention list ahead of the November 15 deadline at 5 PM.
It is important to mention that while Samson’s arrival is a massive boost for CSK, the departure of Ravindra Jadeja will leave CSK with a major hole, especially in spin bowling.
Even though CSK has Afghanistan spinner Noor Ahmad, the team will still look to add a top-quality Indian spinner in the upcoming mini-auction to replace Jadeja's all-around value.
BCCI's approval pending for Jadeja-Samson trade
It is important to note that, according to the reports by The Hindu, all parties have agreed to this trade, but only BCCI’s approval is the final step that is left before it becomes official. The IPL 2026 auction will likely take place in Abu Dhabi in the second week of December.
