'It is important to play fearless cricket'- Bangladesh T20I skipper Nurul Hasan

Newly-appointed Bangladesh T20I captain Nurul Hasan has stressed on the importance of playing 'fearless cricket', stating that it creates more opportunities as he gets ready for his maiden assignment against Zimbabwe.

Hasan was appointed T20I skipper on Sunday (July 24) as replacement for Mahmudullah Riyad, who has been sacked after two years of poor performance with bat as well as a leader.

However, Nurul, in his first interaction with the media after being appointed T20I skipper, made some very valid points in the presser, where he talked about playing fearless cricket and developing a team-first culture.

"It is important to play fearless cricket. It creates more opportunities. We want to stick to our process too but we can't plan too far ahead. Captaincy is definitely a matter of pride but I am thinking more about the challenge ahead. At every level I have led teams, I tried to [get the players to] play as a team. I want to continue that team-first culture," said Nurul as quoted by ESPNCricinfo.

The Asian Tigers have managed a solitary win in their last 13 outings and they will have to play T20Wl World Cup Qualifiers later this year in order to book their ticket for the main draw.

"I have learned a lot playing under [Mahmudullah] Riyad bhai. I have learned from all our captains, all of whom are quite different. I want to work by taking something from each of those experiences,"

Nurul also added that the team culture has improved significantly in the last two years and he will look to build on that.

Nurul will make his captaincy debut when Bangladesh locks horns with hosts Zimbabwe in the 1st game of the three-match T20I series on July 30.
