Indian top order batsman Ishan Kishan has stated that despite being players of the similar mould, he and Rishabh Pant are not in competition with each other. Speaking to the Times of India, the belligerent left handed opener shed some light upon his closest rival in the team and said that the both of them are very good friends and not for once do they think about taking each other’s position in the team.
“Whenever both of us are around, you will find us hanging out a lot with each other,” Kishan said.
The costliest player of this Indian Premier League auction, Ishan has been criticised for his form in the series against West Indies. While there is much time before people start questioning his place in the team, he attested that Pant would never want to vie for his position in the team.
“I speak my mind with him and he does the same. Never once has it crossed my mind that I want his place and I can assure you, that’s been the case with him too.”
Kishan is currently being seen as the first choice replacement for Shikhar Dhawan, so that India can sustain a left-right combination at the top alongside Rohit Sharma. While he has not been in touch off late, there are many who are willing to give him the long rope due to his exploits in the Indian Premier League.
