Mitchell Marsh, Australian T20 captain, injured his hamstring during Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 and hasn't played since early April when he represented Delhi Capitals (DC) against  Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) last month.

He played just four matches for DC in the recently concluded IPL following a right hamstring niggle and he flew back to Australia in the last week of April to continue his recuperation.

But ahead of the T20 World Cup, he declared himself fit and is ready for the upcoming marquee tournament.

Mitchell Marsh Will Not Bowl Against Oman

Australia will start its T20 World Cup journey on June 6, 2024, against Oman. But recently, the head coach of Australia, Andrew McDonald on Friday said that captain Mitchell Marsh will be limited to batting duties only, and will not bowl in the first match against Oman.

The allrounder, who is recovering from a hamstring injury, is gradually regaining his form and fitness.

In both the warm-up matches of Australia, the 32-year-old played both the games against Namibia and co-hosts West Indies in Trinidad, scoring 18 and 4 respectively.

"He (Mitchell) fielded more overs tonight (in the warm-up against West Indies), he was able to move more freely, so he's building a little bit of confidence there. It looks as though he's all set for the first game," Coach added.

In the match against co-hosts West Indies, he batted at number three but was dismissed for just four runs as Australia suffered a 35-run defeat in Trinidad and Tobago on Thursday.
