IRE W vs AUS W | Alana King spins the web to dismantle Ireland

Alana King’s match-winning bowling spell helped Australia women beat Ireland women by nine wickets in the second match of the ongoing tri-series at the Bready Cricket Club ground in Northern Ireland.

Australian bowlers tighten the grip

Having been put in to bat by Australia, Ireland lost wickets at regular intervals.

The experienced Megan Schutt drew first blood for the Aussies by dismissing Gaby Lewis in the very first over.

Darcie Brown made things worse for the hosts, getting rid of Orla Prendergast and Laura Delany in the fourth over.

Later, Alana King’s tight spell ensured Ireland didn’t breach the 100-run mark, as she claimed three crucial wickets conceding just nine runs.

Ireland’s best batter Rebecca Stokell could only manage 22 runs as scoring seemed challenging. That said, 23 extras were given away, including 11 wides by Australia.

Mooney and Lanning blow away the Irish bowling line-up

In reply, Australia’s star batters Beth Mooney and skipper Meg Lanning took the Irish bowlers to the cleaners, successfully chasing the target inside 13 overs.

With Alyssa Healy being the only wicket to fall, the Aussies looked in complete control right from the start of their innings. The second wicket partnership of 68 runs between the duo outlined Australia’s dominance.
