  • Ipl Is One Of The Greatest Physios As It Gets Everyone Fit Before Auction Says Ravi Shastri

‘IPL is one of the greatest physios as it gets everyone fit before auction’, says Ravi Shastri

Since terminating his stint as the head coach of the Indian men’s cricket team, Ravi Shastri has been very vocal about several aspects of Indian cricket. His latest statement was a witty remark on the IPL’s ability to make injured players fit and available just prior to its auction.

In a press conference organised by Star sports, the former Indian coach said that IPL being the most lucrative league globally, lures almost every cricketer to be a part of it and tempts even the injured players to be ready and available before the auction. Thus, according to him, the greatest t20 league can also be termed as one of the best physiotherapists.

“IPL is one of the greatest leagues in the world, and it’s also one of the greatest physios in the world because, before the IPL auction, everyone wants to get fit because everyone wants to play in the IPL”, Shastri said.

On being asked whether the hefty price tag associated with the young players adds extra pressure, Shastri replied, “It’s very important to forget the money part, go back to the basics and start from square one. It’s easier said than done. But you must start from the scratch, give attention to detail, and here the captain becomes the big man. He can absorb the pressure and a smart captain would do that.”

For information, the former Indian all-rounder is all set to make his return to the commentary box in the IPL 2022. However, he has signed to commentate in Hindi, something he hasn’t done quite often in his illustrious career as a commentator. Recently, Shastri was in the headlines after stating that he couldn’t commentate during his tenure as India’s coach because of the stupid ‘conflict of interest’ clause in the BCCI’s constitution.

Ravi Shastri served as the head coach of the Indian men’s team for four years and retired just after India’s T20 world cup debacle in 2021.
