In a unique and vibrant celebration ahead of Makar Sankranti, the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) emerged victorious by beating Royal Challengers Banglore (RCB) in the Kite Festival organised between Indian Premier League (IPL) teams in Ahmedabad.

Makar Sankranti, a Hindu festival, is celebrated in various parts of India to mark the fall of the sun into the zodiac sign of Capricorn. It usually falls on January 14th or 15th, marking the end of the winter solstice and the beginning of longer days.

The Kite Festival is one of the most iconic traditions associated with Makar Sankranti in Gujarat. Thus, IPL decided to host one between the franchises in Ahmedabad.

Several franchise representatives gathered to celebrate the festival. Moreover, an exciting competition was also held between the IPL teams to make things more interesting. As per the latest update, SRH won the competition with a gigantic kite with Bhuvneshwar Kumar's face embedded.

Interestingly, RCB came second in the competition, which refreshed the memories of the IPL 2016 finals amongst the fans.

The deja vu moment was particularly poignant for fans who recalled the thrilling clash between SRH and RCB in the 2016 IPL finals. That match, held at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore, saw SRH emerge victorious in a nail-biting encounter, securing their first IPL title.

While RCB dominated most part of the game, SRH's heroic comeback denied them a much-awaited IPL title.

Thus, the Kite Festival victory for SRH over RCB rekindled the excitement of that historic final, adding a layer of nostalgia to the prelude of the upcoming IPL season.

While SRH fans rekindled the 2016 finals memories, the scars of that heartbreaking loss still remain fresh in the hearts and minds of RCB fans. For those living under the rock, RCB has yet to win an IPL title since the league's inception in 2008.
