The Indian Premier League extravaganza will again return in March-April next year for the 16th edition. Meanwhile, the planning and strategizing for the next edition has already begun, with teams setting their eyes on the players performing in different leagues.

IPL will hold the mini-auction early next year, and before that, the transfer window will be opened for the franchises to trade players. According to the report in Insidesport.in, the window might be opened in November, acting as a curtain raiser for the next season of the cash-rich league.

What the BCCI official said to Insidesport

"We are looking at December-January or early February for the auctions. Before that, the trade window will be back this time. The trade window will open around November or early December, depending on the final auction date.

"It will be a short auction as we had the big one last season. The last auction was the major one, and the next three will be mini auctions as the teams want to develop the squads."

What lies ahead?

BCCI will have the mini-auction this time as the mega-auction took place for the recently concluded season. As expected, the franchises would be keen to grab some big names who might want to change their base before the auction.

One such name could be Ravindra Jadeja, who recently had a fall-out with his current team Chennai Super Kings after being removed from captaincy mid-season.
