  • Ipl 2022 Weve Just Got To Get On With The Game Says Shane Watson

IPL 2022 | 'We've just got to get on with the game', says Shane Watson

The Delhi Capitals and Rajasthan Royals match witnessed some serious controversy in the Indian Premier League yesterday.

The drama unfolded in the last over of the game when umpire Nitin Menon denied a possible no-ball which was hit for a six by Delhi's Rovman Powell. Skipper Rishabh Pant reacted to the decision angrily and lost his cool. He then instructed his batters to come off the field.

Assistant Coach Shane Watson tried to make him aware of the unacceptable behaviour, but Pant then sent Pravin Amre to the field to chat with the on-field umpires. The breach of conduct by Pant and co. garnered a lot of heat from fans and cricket pundits.

After the game, Watson spoke to the media and termed the happenings as "disappointing."

"It was very disappointing what happened in that last over. Unfortunately, we were in that position in the game where we could not put things together long enough throughout that game. And look, in the end, what we at the Delhi Capitals don't stand for is what happened.

We have to accept the umpire's decision, whether it's right or wrong. And someone running on the field is…we can't accept, and well, it's not good enough."

He also opined that the umpires should be the ones making the final call, and the players should be able to accept it and move on.

"In the end, the thing is you've got to accept the umpire's decision whether it's a good one or a not-so-good one. So we've just got to get on with the game in the end.

And that's the thing I was communicating then as well. To just make sure we get on with the game, whether we agree with a decision or not. Always taught as youngsters that you've got to accept the umpire's decision, and that's what we should have done," he added.

Pant, Pravin Amre and Shardul Thakur have been fined for their acts in the Indian Premier League encounter.
