BCCI announce squads for 2022 edition of Women’s T20 Challenge

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Monday (May 16) announced the squads for the upcoming Women's T20 Challenge, scheduled to commence on May 23 at MCA Stadium in Pune. The All-India Women's Selection Committee picked Indian internationals Harmanpreet Kaur, Smriti Mandhana and Deepti Sharma as the captains of Supernovas, Trailblazers and Velocity, three teams which will be participating in this tournament. "The best of Indian women's cricket will combine with some of the leading stars from South Africa, England, West Indies and Australia. A total of twelve international players will compete in this year's Women's T20 Challenge," the official release stated. Interestingly, veterans Mithali Raj and Jhulan Goswami don't feature in any of the three teams. The All-India Women's Selection Committee picked the three 16-members squads for the Women's T20 Challenge. The final of the tournament is scheduled May 28. All the four games will be hosted at MCA Stadium in Pune. Trailblazers and Supernovas face-off in the opening game on May 23. Then, Supernovas will come up against Velocity on May 24. Velocity will take on Trailblazers in the third league game, with the final of the tournament scheduled to be held on May 28.
