IPL 2022 | 'One of the best innings ever'- Rishabh Pant on DW’s 92* against SRH

After defeating Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) by 21 runs on Thursday, Delhi Capitals (DC) skipper Rishabh Pant showered praise on the Australian sensation David Warner. The wicketkeeper batter said that it was one of the best innings he has seen for Delhi in a long time.

Out of 58 balls, DC opener David Warner scored an unbeaten 92 against the orange army in the 50th match of IPL 2022 held at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai. The southpaw hit 12 fours and 3 sixes during his stay. The Capitals scored 207-3 in 20 overs thanks to his innings and Rovman Powell's unbeaten 67 off 35 balls. The duo shared an unbeaten century partnership of 122 runs and commanded the innings to an above-par total.

In a post-match presentation, Rishabh Pant said, "The way he (Warner) paced his innings, it's one of the best innings I've seen over a period of time for Delhi. I don't mind having one or two conversations here or there. In the start, he was not getting runs but we backed him and now he's coming out with flying colours.

Even after winning by 21 runs, the DC captain believes they still need to work on some areas. He also emphasized that they are trying to give their best in every match.

"There is always room for improvement, but it is close to a perfect game for us as a batting unit. I was calm about myself. In high chases, the other team needs 10-12 runs per over and it is difficult to hit till the 20th over. I was telling the bowlers to be calm. We are just taking one game at a time and trying to give our 100%. I got out to a full toss, that's part and parcel of the game. Good and important win for us," the 24-year-old stated.

The Hyderabad-based franchise managed to score 186 runs in 20 overs, losing eight wickets during their chase of 208 runs. For the Capitals, Khaleel Ahmed bagged three wickets while Shardul Thakur took two wickets. DC had its fifth win in 10 matches with this. On the other hand, Kane Williamson led side suffered a hattrick of losses and dropped to the sixth place in the points table.

This marked DC's 5th win in IPL 2022 while SRH accounted for their 5th loss of the season. Both teams have now played 10 games and have 10 points each. The Rishabh Pant-led team have risen to 5th place on the points table, as they have better NRR (Net Run Rate) compared to SRH.
