IPL 2022 | KL Rahul becomes fastest Indian batter to 6000 T20 runs

Although the Lucknow Super Giants lost to the Royal Challengers Bangalore by 18 runs in their seventh encounter yesterday, the LSG skipper KL Rahul achieved a glorious personal milestone as the keeper-batter became the fastest Indian to reach the 6000-run mark in T20s.

The stylish batter from Karnataka completed 6000 T20 runs during his 30-run knock while chasing 182 against RCB. He became the third-fastest to this landmark, just behind Chris Gayle and Babar Azam. Rahul, 30, took 166 innings to score 6000 T20 runs and, therefore, broke the record of Virat Kohli, who batted 184 times to bring off this feat.

To note, Shikhar Dhawan, Suresh Raina and Rohit Sharma took 214, 217 and 228 innings, respectively, to pull off this achievement and, therefore, are occupying the third, fourth and fifth positions in this list.

Rahul has been in magnificent touch in this year's IPL. His match-winning century against Mumbai Indians was one of the finest knocks we have seen in the mega event so far. Statistically, the LSG opener has amassed 265 runs in 7 innings at an average of 44.17 and is currently sitting at the second position in the list of highest run-getters of the tournament.

Regarding the match, RCB managed to score 181 runs for the loss of six wickets despite losing two wickets, including Virat Kohli's in the first over.

Skipper Faf Du Plessis led from the front as the experienced South African smashed 96 runs off 64 balls at a strike rate of 150. In reply, LSG were dismantled by Josh Hazlewood and could score 163 runs at the end of 20 overs, with the Aussie seamer picking four wickets for just 25 runs.

With this victory, RCB have moved to the second position with 10 points, while LSG stand at the fourth position with four wins from seven matches.
