IPL 2022 | It’s with the ball that we are disappointed: CSK skipper Ravindra Jadeja

Chennai Super Kings skipper Ravindra Jadeja has attributed his side's eight-wicket defeat to the Sunrisers Hyderabad to the inability of his bowlers to make crucial breakthroughs.

The defending champions' abysmal time in the ongoing IPL continued on Saturday as they suffered yet another demoralising defeat, this time at the hands of  SRH.

While Jadeja did admit that CSK were at least 20-25 runs short of what they eventually posted (154), he felt that the bowling attack once again let the side down.

"With the ball, we are disappointed, but we were 20-25 runs short," Jadeja said after CSK's eight-wicket defeat to SRH.

"We were looking to fight till the end. 155 isn't bad, and our bowlers were looking to take wickets, but we'll look to improve. We'll talk about where we are lacking. We are professionals and need to work hard, stick together and come back stronger," he added.

Meanwhile, head coach Stephen Fleming reckoned that his team needs to pull up their socks in every department of the game if they want to instigate a revival.

Fleming further added that the absence of their pace-bowling spearhead Deepak Chahar due to injury and the rest of his personnel being below par in every department, has paved the way for four back-to-back defeats for the Super Kings.

"There have been player availability issues, and we have been pretty much below par in all departments — batting, bowling and fielding," said Fleming in the post-match presser.

He added, "We haven't been able to pressure the opposition, and there haven't been any close games. As a result, we have been a distant second in all games, and we need to improve in all departments — that's pretty much it."

The Super Kings will look to end their winless streak when they lock horns with the Royal Challengers Bangalore on April 12.
