IPL 2022: 'I got a message from Faf, it was a picture of him, Maxi and Virat all in MI kits', Tim David

Mumbai Indians batter Tim David described the Wankhede pitch as "slow and sluggish" following his blistering knock of 34 (11) against the Delhi Capitals on Saturday night.

The Singapore-born cricketer smashed as many as four sixes and a couple of fours to bring the asking rate under control before eventually getting dismissed by Shardul Thakur.

Speaking to the host broadcaster following his epic knock, David said:

"It's nice to finish with a win. It's a good feeling. We got close the other night. We can't ask for much more than to finish with a win. Ishan, as he walked off, he said to me, 'The wicket's gotten flatter.' So it was holding a little bit with the slower balls, but you just have to hold your shape, back your game, and keep it simple. I think there was a couple of baby sixes today, so I got away with a couple," 

David wouldn't have played such a knock had Rishabh Pant challenged the on-field decision after the umpire adjudged the hard-hitting batsman not out despite there being a clear nick.

When asked about the same, David said that he didn't feel that he had hit the ball at the time.

"I heard a noise, but I wasn't sure. When there was no review, crack on. I didn't think I hit it at the time, and I thought I hit my pad. But that's how I'm going," he added.

David's knock helped Mumbai finish the season on a high and ensured that his former team, the Royal Challengers Bangalore, booked their spot in the playoffs at the expense of Delhi.

There was a picture circulating on social media before the game where the trio of Faf du Plessis, Virat Kohli and Glenn Maxwell can be seen wearing MI's jersey.

Alluding to the same, David revealed that Du Plessis had texted him the picture before the match.

"I got a message from Faf this morning. It was a picture of him, Maxi and Virat all in an MI kit. Maybe I'll have to post to Instagram later," he added.

David finished the season with 186 runs in 8 games at a strike rate of 216.28
