Delhi Capitals (DC) have been hit with a number of COVID-19 cases with the latest victim being New Zealand’s Tim Seifert. The 27-year-old returned a positive test report on Wednesday (April 20) and has remained in quarantine since then.
Meanwhile, another development has emerged that confirms the change in venue of the upcoming match of the Capitals against the Rajasthan Royals (RR).
An hour ago, before DC’s match against Punjab, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) made another announcement by shifting the venue of Delhi’s match yet again.
“The decision on the change of venue was made as a precautionary measure after Delhi Capitals registered the 6th COVID case with New Zealand wicketkeeper Mr Tim Seifert returning positive in today’s RT-PCR testing,” the press release from BCCI said.
The decision has been made in the wake cluster of COVID-19 cases developing in the DC camp. Apart from Seifert, Australia’s Mitchell Marsh, physiotherapist Patrick Farhat, sports massage therapist Chetan Kumar, team doctor Abhijit Salvi and social media content team member Akash Mane tested positive for the virus.
Despite the conundrum, today’s game between the Capitals and the Kings - whose venue was again shifted to Mumbai from Pune amid the virus - will take place on the scheduled date and timing.
